Students Handbook

Handbook carries a set of rules that defines acceptable behavior and ethical standards within an organization, promoting integrity, respect, and accountability. Non-compliance will lead to strict disciplinary action with no discretion or prejudice.

General Code

College Arrival Rules

  • College starts at 7:45 am, therefore students are advised to reach the college 5 minutes earlier. In case of Delay, the student will be marked LATE.
  • Students will not be allowed to enter college without ID Card.
  • Students must swipe the ID card properly, otherwise they will be marked absent.

Transport & Parking Policy

  • Students, using college transport, must follow the assigned pick-up/drop-off points.
  • Reckless driving, loud music, or violation of parking rules may lead to disciplinary action.
  • Students must not sit on parked bikes/cars that do not belong to them.

Student Appearance and Uniform

  • Only designated college uniform is allowed.
  • White shirt with iRoots monogram, grey trousers with black belt, blue tie, black shoes as per approved pattern with black socks.
  • Grey Kameez Shalwar on Fridays.
  • Blue blazer or sweater in winters.
  • Uniform must be neat and clean and pressed properly.
  • Hoodies and jackets are strictly prohibited.
  • Students will not be allowed to wear any fashion accessories in the college except a watch.
  • Students must maintain a neat and appropriate haircut; extreme or trendy hairstyles are not allowed in the college.

Academic Code

Attendance

  • Students must maintain at least 75% attendance.
  • A student who is absent from college for a day or more must provide an application for leave from parents on the very first day back to college.
  • In case of sickness and other emergency leaves, the college has the right to investigate and evaluate the application and decide accordingly.
  • No half day or short leave will be allowed without the presence of the parents/guardian.
  • Leave for reason other than sudden illness is discouraged.
  • For sick leave of more than a day, medical certificate will be required.
  • Absence without leave application for a week or more, makes a student liable for withdrawal from the college.
  • Regular classes are held from Monday to Friday. However, college can remain open on Saturday, in case of unexpected holiday during the week or extra classes are deemed necessary.
  • Every student is required to participate in the Islamic Orientation and Personality Development sessions as a compulsory part of the curriculum.

Classroom Ethics

  • Do not exit class without the permission.
  • Leave the cafeteria as the bell rings.
  • Place the chairs organized when they leave the class.
  • Not to disturb the decorum of the class & deviate the attention of their teacher by unnecessary activities.
  • Maintain discipline in class, be attentive, and actively participate in discussions.
  • Put queries in a decent manner.
  • Be calm and do not disturb your peers, also do not allow them to disturb you.
  • Bring your own books, stationery and other learning material.
  • Respect your entire teaching faculty, irrespective of Discipline or their relation with you as your subject teacher.

Academic Dishonesty

Students may face expulsion at the discretion of the College for engaging in academic dishonesty. Academic dishonesty refers to any action, behavior, or deed, whether performed individually or in collaboration with others, that seeks to provide an unfair advantage or benefit to oneself or others. This includes:

  • Cheating
  • Plagiarism
  • Unapproved collaboration
  • Alteration of records
  • Bribery
  • Misrepresentation

Field Trips and Excursions

We organize visits for various purposes, allowing students to connect and learn outside the classroom. During these visits, students are expected to follow all protocols, rules, and guidelines provided for the activity.

  • Students may be required to go out of town for field placement. Students may be required to cover travel/accommodation costs.
  • Students must behave toward all participants, faculty, staff, and others during the trip.
  • Students are expected to follow all instructions provided by trip leaders, faculty, and accompanying staff.
  • Students should stay with the designated group throughout the trip unless directed otherwise.
  • Students must prioritize their safety and the safety of others, reporting any concerns or incidents immediately.
  • Students are expected to respect the environment and avoid littering, vandalism, or damaging any sites visited.
  • Students are responsible for any equipment or property provided to them and must notify trip leaders about any health conditions, carrying necessary medication.
  • Students must submit signed permission forms from their parent/guardian to participate in off-campus activities.
  • The forms acknowledge that the college is not liable for accidents, despite taking reasonable precautions, and require emergency contact information.

Signed permission forms are mandatory before students can participate in any off-campus activities.

Code of Conduct

Campus Code

  • All students are required to attend the assembly regularly and on time
  • Pay attention to all announcements.
  • The use of mobile phone during college time is not allowed and must be switched off. However, it can be used after the college timings in designated areas.
  • College property is for the provision of college services. Students who damage, misuse, steal or otherwise use the property in a way that is prohibited may be expelled and required to make restitution.
  • Please make sure we have your current address on your personal file. If you have a change of address or phone number, please notify Admission office immediately.
  • Any valuables brought to the college shall be at owners own risk; college will not be responsible for any students’ belongings included unattended bags.
  • Certain areas of the school may be designated as out of bounds for safety or management reasons.

Behavioral Parameters

  • The Campus is a No-Smoking Area. Any student found violating the discipline is subject to severe punishment or even expulsion.
  • Any criminal behavior (e.g., assault, theft, fraud or willful damage to the college property, deceit, and deception or offensive behavior or language, gender, racial or any form of harassment) will lead to strict disciplinary action.
  • Misuse or unauthorized use of college premises, such as carrying fire arms, weapons, explosives, drugs or any prohibited /banned substances will lead to cancellation of admission and criminal proceedings.

Digital Conduct & Social Media Policy

  • Students must use social media responsibly and avoid sharing any content that harms the college’s reputation.
  • Cyberbullying, hate speech, and harassment (even online) will result in disciplinary action.
  • Students must not share confidential college materials, assignments, or faculty information without permission.
  • Unauthorized recording of teachers or classmates without consent is strictly prohibited.

Anti-Violence, Bullying & Harassment Policy

The following policy outlines our approach to preventing and addressing incidents of bullying and harassment:

  • Bullying: Bullying refers to any repeated, intentional, and harmful behavior aimed at causing physical, emotional, or psychological distress to an individual or group. This behavior may include physical aggression, verbal abuse, social exclusion, cyberbullying, or any other form of unwanted conduct.
  • Harassment: Harassment encompasses unwelcome actions, comments, or gestures directed towards an individual or group based on their race, ethnicity, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristic. Expulsion will be automatic for any student who will be deemed, after the result of the investigation, to have engaged in harassment or discriminatory activities. Following also constitute harassment:
  • Offensive or suggestive remarks
  • Inappropriate sexual jokes or comments directed at a student.
  • Displaying pornographic, blasphemous, racist content or other offensive material.
  • Inappropriate physical contact like touching, patting, or pinching with sexual connotations.
  • Actions that create a hostile, intimidating, or offensive environment through physical, verbal, written, graphic, or electronic means.
  • Posting inappropriate comments or images online, including on social media.

Refusing to speak to or study/work with someone or treating someone differently because of their ethnic or racial background.

Reporting and Response

  • Reporting Incidents: We encourage students, staff, parents, and any member of the College community to report any instances of bullying or harassment as soon as possible. Reports can be made to trusted teachers, counsellors, administrators, or through anonymous reporting channels available within the College.
  • Confidentiality and Protection: All reports will be treated with confidentiality, to the extent possible, during the investigation process. The privacy and safety of all individuals involved will be prioritized and respected throughout.
  • Investigation and Intervention: Upon receiving a report, the College will promptly investigate the situation and take appropriate action based on the nature and severity of the incident. Interventions may include counselling, mediation, corrective measures, parental involvement, or disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Disciplinary Consequences: Disciplinary actions will be applied in accordance with the College’s established code of conduct. These may range from counselling and educational interventions to suspension, expulsion, or involvement of law enforcement, depending on the severity and recurrence of the bullying or harassment.

Extracurricular Activities – Societies & Sports

  • iRoots College encourages students to participate in clubs, societies and sports to enhance their skills, teamwork, and leadership qualities.

    • All students are welcome to join college societies and sports teams.
    • Society leaders will be selected through voting every year.
    • Participation in events, competitions, and training sessions is expected.
    • Participation is encouraged, but students must maintain discipline, respect, and academic balance
    • Any student with a medical condition must inform the Administration in advance to prevent involvement in activities that could risk their health.
    • Misconduct, negligence, or repeated absence may result in suspension from extracurricular activities.
    • The college holds the right to make changes in activities, schedules, or leadership structures as needed.
    The college aims to provide a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for students to explore their interests and talents.

Emergency Procedures & Safety Policy

  • In case of fire or emergency evacuation, students must follow the assigned exit routes and safety procedures.
  • Students should report any suspicious activity to administration or security staff.
  • In case of injury or medical emergency, students must immediately inform a teacher or staff member.

Students With Disabilities

Our college is committed to supporting students with disabilities by providing a supportive environment tailored to individual needs. Students requiring accommodations must inform the Administration by submitting an application. The college will consider the request and arrange necessary support to help them succeed.
