Students Handbook

Handbook carries a set of rules that defines acceptable behavior and ethical standards within an iRoots College, promoting integrity, respect, and accountability. Non-compliance will lead to strict disciplinary action with no discretion or prejudice.

General Code

College Arrival Rules

  • To help ensure a smooth and focused start to the academic day, students are encouraged to arrive by 7:40 AM, allowing a few minutes for settling in before classes commence at 7:45 AM. In the spirit of punctuality and consistency, any arrival after this time will be recorded as Late.
  • To support campus safety and security, all students are kindly reminded to carry their college ID card each day. Entry without an ID card will not be permitted.
  • Additionally, students are requested to swipe their ID card correctly at the designated terminals. This helps us maintain accurate attendance records and ensures accountability.

Transport & Parking Policy

  • For students availing the college transport service, we kindly request adherence to the assigned pick-up and drop-off points to ensure efficient and safe travel for all.
  • To maintain a safe and respectful environment on campus, we encourage all students to drive responsibly, keep music at an appropriate volume, and follow parking regulations diligently.
  • We also request students to refrain from sitting on parked vehicles—especially those not belonging to them—as a measure of mutual respect and safety for personal property.

Student Appearance and Uniform

  • A well-groomed and professional appearance reflects our shared commitment to discipline and community values.
    Students are expected to wear the designated college uniform, which includes:

              • White shirt with the iRoots monogram
              Grey trousers with a black belt
              • Blue tie
              •
Black shoes (as per the approved pattern) with black socks
              • White
 Kameez Shalwar on Fridays
              •
Blue blazer or sweater during the winter season

  • Uniforms should be worn neatly pressed, clean, and complete, reflecting the high standards we collectively uphold.
  • We kindly remind students that hoodies, jackets, or any fashion accessories (other than a watch) are not part of the approved attire.
  • Additionally, students are expected to maintain neat and appropriate hairstyles; styles that are excessively trendy or extreme in nature may not align with the college’s grooming expectations.

Academic Code

Attendance

  • Students must maintain at least 75% attendance.

  • A student who is absent from college for a day or more must provide an application for leave from parents on the very first day back to college.

  • In case of sickness and other emergency leaves, the college has the right to investigate and evaluate the application and decide accordingly.

  • No half-day or short leave will be allowed without the presence of the parents/guardian.

  • Leave for reasons other than sudden illness is discouraged.

  • For sick leave of more than a day, a medical certificate will be required.

  • Absence without a leave application for a week or more makes a student liable for withdrawal from the college.

  • Regular classes are held from Monday to Friday. However, the college may remain open on Saturday in case of an unexpected holiday during the week or if extra classes are deemed necessary.

  • Every student is required to participate in the Islamic Orientation and Personality Development sessions as a compulsory part of the curriculum.

Classroom Ethics

  • Do not exit the class without the permission of the teacher.

  • Leave the cafeteria promptly as the bell rings.

  • Ensure chairs are organized before leaving the classroom.

  • Students are expected not to disturb the decorum of the class or deviate the teacher’s attention with unnecessary activities.

  • Maintain discipline in class, be attentive, and actively participate in discussions.

  • Present queries in a decent and respectful manner.

  • Be calm and do not disturb your peers; also, do not allow them to disturb you.

  • Bring your own books, stationery, and other learning materials required for class.

  • Show respect to the entire teaching faculty, regardless of subject or personal association.

Academic Dishonesty

Students may face expulsion at the discretion of the College for engaging in academic dishonesty. Academic dishonesty refers to any action, behavior, or deed, whether performed individually or in collaboration with others, that seeks to provide an unfair advantage or benefit to oneself or others. This includes:

              • Cheating
              • Plagiarism
              • Unapproved collaboration
              • Alteration of records
              • Bribery
              • Misrepresentation

Field Trips and Excursions

We organize visits for various purposes, allowing students to connect and learn outside the classroom. During these visits, students are expected to follow all protocols, rules, and guidelines provided for the activity.

  • Students may be required to go out of town for field placement. In such cases, students may need to cover their own travel/accommodation costs.

  • Students must behave respectfully toward all participants, faculty, staff, and others throughout the trip.

  • Students are expected to follow all instructions provided by trip leaders, faculty, and accompanying staff.

  • Students should remain with the designated group throughout the trip unless directed otherwise.

  • Students must prioritize their own safety and the safety of others, and should report any concerns or incidents immediately.

  • Students are expected to respect the environment and must avoid littering, vandalism, or damaging any sites visited.

  • Students are responsible for any equipment or property provided to them and must inform trip leaders of any health conditions, while also carrying necessary medication.

  • Students must submit signed permission forms from a parent/guardian in order to participate in off-campus activities.

  • The permission forms acknowledge that the college is not liable for accidents, despite taking reasonable precautions, and must include emergency contact information.

  • Signed permission forms are mandatory before students can participate in any off-campus activities.

Code of Conduct

Campus Code

  • All students are required to attend the assembly regularly and on time.

  • Pay close attention to all announcements made during the assembly.

  • The use of mobile phones during college hours is not allowed and must be switched off. However, phones may be used after college hours in designated areas.

  • College property is intended for the provision of services. Students who damage, misuse, steal, or otherwise improperly use college property may face expulsion and be required to make restitution.

  • Please ensure that your current address and contact information are up to date in your personal file. If there is a change of address or phone number, kindly notify the Admissions Office immediately.

  • Any valuables brought to college are at the owner’s own risk. The college will not be responsible for any student belongings, including unattended bags.

  • Certain areas of the college may be designated as out of bounds for safety or administrative reasons.

Behavioral Parameters

  • The campus is a No-Smoking Area. Any student found violating this policy is subject to severe disciplinary action, which may include expulsion.

  • Any form of criminal behavior (e.g., assault, theft, fraud, willful damage to college property, deceit, deception, or offensive behavior or language, including gender-based, racial, or any form of harassment) will result in strict disciplinary measures.

  • Misuse or unauthorized use of college premises, such as carrying firearms, weapons, explosives, drugs, or any prohibited/banned substances, will lead to cancellation of admission and may result in criminal proceedings.

Digital Conduct & Social Media Policy

  • Students must use social media responsibly and avoid sharing any content that could harm the college’s reputation.

  • Cyberbullying, hate speech, and harassment—even if conducted online—will result in disciplinary action.

  • Students must not share confidential college materials, assignments, or faculty information without prior permission.

  • Unauthorized recording of teachers or classmates without their consent is strictly prohibited.

Anti-Violence, Bullying & Harassment Policy

The following policy outlines our approach to preventing and addressing incidents of bullying and harassment:

  • Bullying: Bullying refers to any repeated, intentional, and harmful behavior aimed at causing physical, emotional, or psychological distress to an individual or group. This behavior may include physical aggression, verbal abuse, social exclusion, cyberbullying, or any other form of unwanted conduct.
  • Harassment: Harassment encompasses unwelcome actions, comments, or gestures directed towards an individual or group based on their race, ethnicity, religion, disability, or any other protected characteristic. Expulsion will be automatic for any student who will be deemed, after the result of the investigation, to have engaged in harassment or discriminatory activities. Following also constitute harassment:

  • Sexual or suggestive remarks, jokes, or physical contact.
  • Sharing offensive content (e.g., pornographic, blasphemous, or racist).
  • Creating a hostile environment through any form of communication.
  • Posting inappropriate material online, including on social media.

Refusing to speak to or study/work with someone or treating someone differently because of their ethnic or racial background.

Reporting and Response

  • Reporting Incidents: We encourage students, staff, parents, and any member of the College community to report any instances of bullying or harassment as soon as possible. Reports can be made to trusted teachers, counsellors, administrators, or through anonymous reporting channels available within the College.
  • Confidentiality and Protection: All reports will be treated with confidentiality, to the extent possible, during the investigation process. The privacy and safety of all individuals involved will be prioritized and respected throughout.
  • Investigation and Intervention: Upon receiving a report, the College will promptly investigate the situation and take appropriate action based on the nature and severity of the incident. Interventions may include counselling, mediation, corrective measures, parental involvement, or disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Disciplinary Consequences: Disciplinary actions will be applied in accordance with the College’s established code of conduct. These may range from counselling and educational interventions to suspension, expulsion, or involvement of law enforcement, depending on the severity and recurrence of the bullying or harassment.

Extracurricular Activities – Societies & Sports

  • iRoots College encourages students to participate in clubs, societies and sports to enhance their skills, teamwork, and leadership qualities.

    • All students are welcome to join college societies and sports teams.
    • Society leaders will be selected through voting every year.
    • Participation in events, competitions, and training sessions is expected.
    • Participation is encouraged, but students must maintain discipline, respect, and academic balance
    • Any student with a medical condition that requires special attention or care, must inform the Administration in advance to prevent involvement in activities that could risk their health.
    • Misconduct, negligence, or repeated absence may result in suspension from extracurricular activities.
    • The college holds the right to make changes in activities, schedules, or leadership structures as needed.

    The college aims to provide a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for students to explore their interests and talents.

Emergency Procedures & Safety Policy

  • In case of fire or emergency evacuation, students must follow the assigned exit routes and safety procedures.
  • Students should report any suspicious activity to administration or security staff.
  • In case of injury or medical emergency, students must immediately inform a teacher or staff member.

Students With Disabilities

Our college is committed to supporting students with disabilities by providing a supportive environment tailored to individual needs. Students requiring accommodations must inform the Administration by submitting an application. The college will consider the request and arrange necessary support to help them succeed.
